2007 European Parliamentary List Selection

At the winter meeting of English Council, held in Westminster on Saturday, November 25th, the timetable for the selection of European Parliamentary lists for the English Regions, as proposed by the English Candidates Committee, was ratified. As a result, this vital selection will take place in 2007 to the following timetable -

5 May Appoint Returning Officers

14 May Appoint Selection Committee

May Train Selection Committees

2 June Returning Officers briefing

5 June Advertisement in Lib Dem News

2 July Deadline for receipt of applications

3 July Dates and Venues of hustings to be decided

1 August Interviews to be completed and short list produced

6 August Selection Campaign starts

11 August Shortlisted candidates artwork to RO

14 August RO Artwork to Cowley Street

18 August Finalise short list [fill any gaps]

1 September Members mailing, to include ballot paper

October Hustings

6 November Return of ballot papers noon

10 November Count and Declaration of Result

Anyone who wishes to be considered as a potential candidate is strongly advised to seek approval (if not already on the Approved List for the European Parliament), or a conversion interview (if already on the Westminster Approved List but not yet approved for Europe) as soon as possible.
