The President of Europe

Although the Lisbon Treaty has not yet been ratified there is speculation that Tony Blair could be interested in the new position of President of the European Council. However, it is reported that he is waiting for the full job description before applying. An anti-Blair petition (in the European Tribune) has so far collected over a million signatures.

In the EUObserver, Peter Sain ley Berry has argued that the first President of the European Council needs to be selected carefully and must be someone who can defend and enhance respect for international law.
