Information Visit to BrusselsThe next European Parliamentary elections will be in 2009. We need to display to electors that we are knowledgeable about the workings of the European Union and to argue against the false "facts" and assumptions propagated by much of the British press and opponents of the European Project. Some may have ambitions to be elected to the European Parliament. Others may wish to know more about how European Institutions work. Here is a chance to go to Brussels and meet the people who run the EU, following our successful visits over the past few years. Places are available to all members of the Liberal Democrat Party. Participants make their own way to Brussels - advice is available - and stay 2 nights at reasonable prices in a block booked hotel. On both days we use public transport to attend briefings. Where possible meals are taken with relevant people. Schedules are adjusted to reflect who is in Brussels and what events are on. The Commission offers a lunch, other meals are at participants' own expense. NOTE: LDEG offers 2 Roy Jenkins Bursary places on each Brussels visit to assist those who would otherwise be unable to afford the cost - particularly students and pensioners.
